Waste to Art
Art Residency Program
The Art Residency program invites artists to experiment with waste materials to inspire locals and visitors of the environmental impacts of their actions.
We have partnered with the Denali Foundation which will be supporting our Art Residency Program. The Foundation will identify and send artists to Sagarmatha Next for residencies to experiment and create art with waste materials found in the Himalayas. The visiting artists will conduct workshops for local school children and adults.

About our partner
The Denali Foundation
Denali Foundation is a non-profit organization that was created by Sequoia Schmidt to honor the memory of her brother, Denali Schmidt, an artist and a mountaineer who passed away in an avalanche on K2.
The mission of the Denali Foundation is to expand the minds of young artists from underserved populations by providing free art supplies. They purchase supplies that are requested by teachers, emerging artists and community organizers working with children and youth groups. They believe that fostering creativity enriches people’s lives and their goal is to minimize the economic barrier to the fulfillment of one’s creativity.
