Sustainable Mountain Architecture - SMA
Sustainable Mountain Architecture (SMA) is pro-people, pro-ecology and pro-local, formed by an award-winning team of a dynamic network of architects, planners, interior architects, bio-diversity specialists, landscape architects, conservation architects, structural designers, model makers, project managers, graphic designers, foremen and craftspeople.
SMA works on the vision, the architectural design, the landscape design and implementation of Sagarmatha Next. They regularly work with salvaged material which has only increased after the two devastating 2015 earthquakes in Nepal. The team has demonstrated that scrap and solid waste can be successfully up-cycled into building material in multiple projects in South Asia, and passive solar energy is part of their design methodology.
