Sagarmatha Next partners with like-minded organizations from Nepal and across the world. Their ideas, expertise, and in-kind support are helping us to promote sustainable tourism in the Khumbu region.
SPCC is responsible for the development and implementation as well as the operations of the waste management system in the Khumbu region. Along with BW2V they conducted a field-research study as well as assessments of the situation, which resulted in the development of the waste management master plan for Khumbu.
The plan includes solutions for managing waste on site as well as the transportation of the waste to Kathmandu for further recycling. SPCC operates the crowd sourced waste transportation initiative called the carry me back program.
Sagarmatha Next provide support to SPCC by outreach and assisting in increasing awareness among visitors and locals as well as raising financial support for implementation of different programs such as the carry me back, in order to support the waste management system in the Khumbu region.
BW2V provide strategic advice on waste management practices for the Khumbu region. And the company has been part in the development of the waste management master plan to be implemented in the region by SPCC and is also responsible for to manage and recycle the waste that is brought back to Kathmandu through the carry me back program.
moware designed and produced the first 500 carry me back bags used for the pilot phase in 2019. Besides, Moware has created a dedicated line of product from the himalayas for Sagarmatha Next, made by the artists and locals of the region. The products are sold online as well as in our shop in the center located in Syangboche.
As the Technology Partner for Sagarmatha Next, Dell supplies and serves the center with all technical display and computer equipment, including film projector, digital touch screens, virtual reality equipment, laptops. In addition, Dell has also supported the carry me back program.

The Foundation supports our mission to managing waste in one of the world’s most iconic trekking destinations through fundraising and matched donations, as well as raising awareness among the Intrepid community.

In 2019 Denali Foundation partnered with Sagarmatha Next and supported the Denali Schmidt Art Gallery as well as assisted in developing the artist-in-residence program. The Sagarmatha Next art residency program invites international and local artists to work with transforming waste into artwork as well as engaging with local school children in artistic workshops.
In 2023 Kiehl’s partnered with Sagarmatha Next, supporting various efforts of waste management actions, such as awareness outreach and the carry me back initiative as well as the promotion of sustainable tourism by encouraging refillables to reduce single-use plastics in the Khumbu region.
Bally Peak Outlook Foundation is on a mission to safeguard the world’s fragile mountain habitats from the adverse effects of a growing tourism and global climate change. Starting 2023, the Foundation has partnered with Sagarmatha Next to support and empower local communities to implement sustainable practices through various initiatives including the carry me back program.
